Standard folds or is that too weak

Maybe I'm getting out flopped a lot right now but I've been folding a lot of fairly big hands recently and I'm wondering whether I'm just being too passive.


Hand 1 villain was a loose player something like 33/14 with a 30 Ag freq.

Bet to protect my JJ hand and when I get flatted I am thinking it's a flush draw. Though his range is really Any suited Qx hand, 44, 66, FD

I bet again thinking that most FDs would be folding and after being flatted his range is pretty much unchanged but I began to feel that it was a passively played Q.

I checked figuring some showdown value vs. busted flush draws and when a passive player shoves I tend to respect it though I realize I could have looked like a flush draw myself and allowed him to bluff shove.

hand one i would definitely raise it up 2 more bb's preflop because you are on the big blind and your hand can be a tough one postflop OOP. flop bet i think is fine because 77-TT would be inclined to take another card, and we charge flush draws. i'm interested to know what someone who is good at poker has to say about the turn here, i'd usually be inclined to check but thats just a results-oriented outcome of me owning myself in these spots. depending on how good your read on villain is (will he ever raise flush draws? always raise sets? smooth with all Q's?) i i could argue for checking or betting. hard river spot. i don't really know how to do the math here because i don't know if this guy is capable of shoving busted draws etc. hard to give him credit for 66 though because of how passively he played the flop and turn. only one combo of 44. imo that leaves Qx hands (does he overbet shove these?) and busted draws. that said the few times i've snapped off nonsensical overbets at these stakes i've been shown the nuts.

hand two i think is pretty much fine. calling on the turn is better than raising in my opinion because it keeps villains range as wide as possible. given board texture and that villain donked the two big $$ streets i'm thinking this is pure value.

hand 3 is fine i think unless you have a read that villain is weak-tight and you can bluff him. i'd be folding though.

hand 4 is fine imo too. i doubt villain is going to be the type to see that the A is good barreling card, and instead probably sees it as a scare-card (if he didnt have AK)

I think they are all good folds but the second one. That one seems a little weak but the others were sound lay downs.

raise... especially if you have position...

hand 1: given villians aggression i'm thinking he would've raised on the turn with any set so i don't think he had a set... huge over-bet for a naked queen to be honest... i'd honestly think my JJ were good on the river and i'd bet for value something like 75 cents and fold to aggresssion... as played it's an instant fold on the river...

hand 2: given opponents range of PP, ATs, suited broadways, i'd overbet this flop... i would've bet at least $0.75... highly vulnerable board especially for Q J or any hearts he may have... it would also look like you're trying to buy the pot right there since you made a positional raise and want to just end the hand... this may cause him to raise on the flop in which cause it's a shove... as played on the turn it's a call or fold position... raising is a mistake IMO... if the river doesn't fill you up i'd check/fold...

hand 3: standard play/fold IMO...

hand 4: raise the flop!.. you're beating nearly everything in his range at this point... i'd raise to $1.15 or something... as played, standard fold on the turn IMO...


my personal rule of thumb is either raise or fold... especially when i'm in position and more so in short handed games...
