Default 10NL : 3-bet big OOP with QQ

Less than 20 hands on villian so no reads.

Why is his 3-bet so big ?

I cant take an only setmining line cos of the bet size doesnt give me enough implied odds correct ?

    Poker Stars $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

    MP: $21.60
    CO: $11.30
    BTN: $10.05
    SB: $26.05
    BB: $10.00
    Hero (UTG): $10.00

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG with Q Q
Hero raises to $0.30, MP calls $0.30, 2 folds, SB raises to $1.50, 1 fold, Hero?

So is 5x the right size 3-bet here ? I normally make mine 4x in his spot.

What is his range to 3-bet here considering that i opened from UTG and the caller between us ?

prolly JJ+,AK maybe AQs and some random bluffs

flat and get it in on a non A/K flop

4x would be raising pot, but you're IP and you should bet bigger than pot when you're OOP

Wouldn't bloating the pot OOP be a bad thing ?

well yeah, he's going to be calling more IP than OOP so bet more
and it's the opposite when we bluff, we want to make it big enough OOP so that he DOESN'T call

well basically we want to give him a hard decision whether we are OOP or IP

these really aren't the reasons to 3bet bigger when OOP

What are the reasons then ?

I think my logic is correct, people want to call IP, but don't want to call OOP because if they call a lot IP we get less profit on our 3b bluff if they play well IP in a 3b pot
So we make it a large bet OOP to discourage them from calling
we also do it less often and with a stronger range than if we were IP

    1. we have a stronger range therefore 3betting bigger cuts down on implied odds.
    2. calling a bigger 3bet w/ an IP (weaker) range is a bigger mistake than calling a smaller 3bet with the same range
    3. we have an equity advantage against their continuing range (not the case a lot of times when we 3bet IP) therefore we gain value by 3betting bigger

3betting bigger to keep them from calling is silly, might as well 3bet to 25bb's if that's our main objective.

Well we want to be getting the right price on our bluff, if we 3b too big we're committing too many chips on a bluff

calling is fine if you are able to fold vs overcards on the flop. Be happy to get it in vs anything other than villain open-shoving flop, and even then....

folding would be ok if you had read that villain is an uber-nit, but you don't.
