    Default Life beat.

I was taking the rubbish out last night. Heard the door slam behind me No keys. Only wearing lounge pants, t-shirt and sandals. Just about the time it was dawning on me that I was defo locked out, it started to snow.

back in house 1/2hr later freezing cold and with a broken door, after smashing the lock with a hammer borrowed from neighbour. Also have a massive bruise on my arm from trying to get arm in letterbox.

Then come to work this morning to find theres gonna be massive job cuts. Could well lose mine.

plus side is, this could finally be the time to have a crack at poker for real like i've been thinking about. But putting my redunancy payout on the line as bankroll seems frikkin scary.

hey hum. Its Friday. Fuck it. fews beers tonight with my sore arm, broken door firmly shut and all will seem rosey........

I laughed at the door part...stopped laughing at the job part.

Your job is a risk but it isn't lost yet. Use every last bit of time you have to stock away extra funds. Hopefully you'll keep your job, and end up with a little extra savings. If worse comes to worse, is severance likely? I'm not sure what the ecomony is doing in the UK, but I imagine it's not much better than the US.

As far as going 'pro', I'm neutral. I think this decision should be based 100% on your current stake and your win rate. If simply playing more at your current level will provide sustainable income, then go for it. If you would need to move up stakes or add funds to your bankroll, then don't.

If I lost my job right now, poker would become a luxury that I would have to put aside until I found gainful employment again. Hopefully I could do this without having to cash in my bankroll, but it would be an easy decision to make if it came down to it.

UK economy is well and truly buggered.

My line of work Finance/insurance, there are no real jobs going. So if I lose mine (which is 50/50 i think) I wouldn't get one again soon - and not for the same wage.

Half joking about playing poker for living - but if it comes to having to get any job (ie bar work etc) to pay the bills, playing $50nl, 7hrs a day would prob bring in more.

I'm gonna need to do some serious homework over the weekend, see excactly where I stand moneywise. This recession sucks.

Also, if you're like we are here, it wont even be possible to get unskilled work to pay the bills

There just aren't any jobs to be had. I hope you keep yours

Unfortunately I think I'm in the same boat. I wish I could keep it up if I lost my job because of how much more time I had, but I can't really justify it. Yay responsibility.
