    Default satellites

i was just wondering the consensus was on satellite tournies? I mean if you win those tournies you get more money than just the buyin for the tourn you get into, but if you come 10th or w/e and make it in it is much better for you, so what do you guys think?

    my thoughts on satellites

if my bankroll is not sufficient to play in the main tourney then buying in to the satellight is not wise bankroll management

satellit4es have rake and rake sucks

    now the postive
    GAAAMMMMMBBBBBOOOOooooooooOOLLLLLLL is fun

satelites can have worse players than the main tourney, so money can be made playing the satelites
win into the main tourney and then continue playing and winning the satelites

If you really want to play in a big tournament it's fine. You wanna play in a big tourney? Everyone has a shot once they get in, look at Jamie Gold.

i am no tourney player, but i would think that if the satellite BI IS w/in your bankroll, its fine to give it a shot.

if im wrong, someone tell me why please?

you can either play it yourself, or sell off your seat for face value most times, right?

you would, of course, be doing this to take shots at bigger paydays by playing in the main tourneys first. you would sell the seat as a last resort, not for profit, as i'm sure a similarly sized BI would have a bigger payout.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

imo if you are playing to sell your seat you are better off playing regular tourneys.

You can't compare a $10 regular tourney to a 10$ sattelite when it comes to BR management. Since a win in the sattelite only gives you a seat in the bigger tournament it's like playing a tournament with a much wider field, so naturally variance will be MUCH higher. It's kind of like comparing a 10$ mtt with 100 players to a 10$ mtt with 1000 players. So if you were to play sattelites exclusively you would need much stricter BR rules. That said, I'm not the person to discourage people from taking shots at higher games.

I think the general consensus is that satellites are +EV, suitably rolled, playing $11 DS to the Sunday $1M are fairly soft, even though they can be frustrating with so much bad play and the all or nothing aspect. The biggest task comes in getting to the second table... once there.. it's relatively easy to get the ticket.

I typically don't play the actual tourney though, I usually just unregister and use the T$ to play SnGs or something... you can squeeze a lot of value out of those satellites I would think. mcatdogg is a satelliting machine. There are some significant differences between sats and traditional tournies so make sure you do a little reading on them beforehand.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

You should consider using your "player points" for sataliting into big tourneys.
Not as many places pay out on these but the they are extreamly soft. There are also SnGs available for some of the bigger tourneys.

I actually re-rolled myself a few months ago by winning a few SnGs with my points and cashing them in. Then I played micro limits to build my roll back up.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

If I have the bankroll I will satellites. They are the best and cheapest way to win your way into some big money. I love them personally. If you can buy-in directly that's cool too if you have exhausted all other opportunities. It all comes down to confidence you have in your game. Field size is something to consider as well.

PokerStars' 5400 FPP satellites to the Sunday Million are so soft it's ridiculous.
