    Default set river bet

6-max, .1/.2 NLHE. I am playing fairly LAG, opp is only a little LAG.
opp has ~$32, I have him covered. I am button w/ 44. opp makes his standard steal raise to .70 from CO, I call, so does BB, all else fold. (pot 2.20)

flop: 3c4cQd. BB checks, opp bets 1.20, i raise to 3, BB folds, opp calls. (pot 8.20)
turn: 8h. opp checks, I bet 5, opp calls.
    (pot 18.20)
river: 5s. opp bets 5, i reraise him AI (~20 more). opp times out and folds.

my question is, would a smaller, more easily called bet be better in the long run, or is the bigger raise the way to go??

I know this should probably be in the HH forum, but I felt that it was more about strategy than this particular hand so I posted here. move it if you disagree.
