I think what the OP is suggesting is, first, take the top 100 tournament poker players in the world (ranked by whatever metric). Second, ask each of them how many tourneys they entered (E), how many tourneys they won (W) and how many tourneys they placed in the money(M). Third, take the sum of all 100 players wins (sigma W), and divide by the total tourneys they entered (sigma E). This number, sigma M/sigma E, represents the average tournament win rate given that person is one of the top 100 in the world. Repeat for sigma M/sigma E to find out the average ITM rate for a top 100 tournament player. It would also be interesting to find the variance of this group -- how different are the top 10 tourney players in win and ITM rate from the 90-100th players, e.g.
