Judging by his stats and stack-sizes, I'm thinking the issue here is bet sizing....
"MP3 ($12.40)
CO ($10)
Button ($8.40)
SB ($1.90)
BB ($2)
UTG ($10)
UTG+1 ($1.85)
Hero (MP1) ($10)
MP2 ($11.60)
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A, K
2 folds, Hero bets $0.40, 3 folds, Button raises to $1, (For what it's worth... The blinds are short-stacked. He probably wants them to shove over and have a cheap call / potentially win it right there... I'd be thinking KQ, Ax, (Probably not good enough to play QJ here though.... Also, 22-88 might play this way for set value from you. That said, he has bet a small amount over here which makes me think that he is pricing himself in for a set mine.)
Hero raises to $3.20, (The pot is already $1.55... At this bet sizing you are looking at keeping in a lot of 77-99 stuff which you aren't that far ahead of... Once the short stacks fold out here, I am looking at fold equity to get out some of the weaker stuff that still can take you to value town if they hit (22-88, 10j, JQ, Jx, Qx, A lot of that kind of stuff... You have a premium hand here, so I like just raising to four thirty or so... That leaves $5 behind, making you basically okay to shove any acey flop. BTW, 4-betting this size may make stuff like Aqo, Ajo, etc.. fold out fearing you have 1010+ or AK most of the time.)
Button calls $2.20 (I Think once this happens, I am shoving most aced flops... If they are calling 4bets with A10, etc.. you are good anyway... but this makes your flop decision a lot easier because a lot of that Ax will be gone, you're either way ahead or behind but once that ace hits you're either crushed by jacks or queens or you are way ahead... I like pot size bet on flop / shove given stack-sizes).
