Hi.

Few of you may care about this, but for those that do (and because I'm too lazy to write up my WSOP notes for the day), here comes a post about my background and my plans.

Some of you know me as a poster in the SnG and MTT forums. I've been concentrating my play in tournaments* for the last year or two. I've been relatively successful for someone going to grad-school studying computer science and moving across the country, but I haven't achieved anything near balla status. I feel like my game has a solid grasp on how to play a good TAG and how to capitalize on a lot of the changing variables in tournaments.

I think that I'm missing a lot of opportunities to pick up chips/pots that laggier play could benefit. I also think that my game would benefit drastically from adding a good mix of small ball in with the rest. Both of these skills seem far easier to improve in the deepstack environment of cash games rather than tournaments. So, to cash I come.

With around 15k in my roll, I think I'm adequately rolled for 3/6. Is that right? I'm definitely not starting there (I'm thinking 1/2...thoughts?), but I'd like confirmation.

Also, given the state of moving money online, how many buyins should I keep online (as I prefer to earn interest on as much of my roll as I can, obv)?

What are the games like at: UB? Stars? FT? Which do/don't you recommend? Why?

if you havent played ring much before id go with 100nl, jut get in 1k show a positive winrate and move into 200nl. The only reason being that generally we ccept there is a larger skill gap between 100nl and 200nl than between most other jumps. Again, if you run through 15k and are positive at 200nl id move into 400nl perhaps and grind away there where your roll is fairly deep and you should be able to find some enough games to play.
Youre stcuk in america so your options for good sites/whoring suck. Poker.com might be worth a look but to be honest with your roll id be looking at stars/full tilt simply because you need to be on a major site for game selection.

As you know I am primarily a SNG player but decided to try my hand at cash over the last couple of months. My roll is quite different to yours (at the time it was about $2k), and because I hadn't played ring since I started playing online in mid-2005 I started at 25NL. After a good winrate of about 8 PTBB/100 over my first 10,000 hands Da GOAT told me to pull my head out of my arse and play 50NL, which wasn't any harder than 25NL.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Late last year I posted asking this forum about tips for a SNG player looking to play cash, here it is.

Congrats on your success at all the SNG's, MTT's.

I'd have to agree with miffed in starting lower than 200NL. I'd say the biggest skill jump would be from 50NL to 100 or 200NL. Or at least thats what I found.

So I'd say start at 50NL/100NL and see how you do there, before moving up.
