Call, call, shove

How often do you call this? Conversely, how often do you bluff the river with a busted flush draw? I don't often but I am finding that I'm at least getting better at spotting them. What kind of read do you like to have?

No. It's the call flop, call turn and push/overbet that gives it away with this particular player. If he pops it to $20 on the flop then I start thinking about TPTK, 2 pair and sets and won't felt. A hand better than mine likely valuebets the river because he wants a call. A player that thinks I'll think that pushes, but he's also probably raising a prior street.

I agree with Renton, the only hands im worried about is nines or Ace 9. The way he played it I think it looks like a busted draw, but without knowing the player its hard to say. I would never call this river from a regular, but against an unknown im not sure. I hate this situation myself.

It's not my favourite either, but I think I tend to a fold here more often than I should be.

One thing I'd like to point out is the size of my turn bet. In these situations, I like to keep it to around 1/2 the pot to encourage a raise out of a better hand. My thinking is that if I pot it, a stronger hand can hide behind my bet, but if I keep it relatively weak they can't abide the loss in value and can't help but raise. A call here pretty well confirms a draw. I might be setting myself up to get blown off hands though. Thoughts?

A call doesn't confirm a draw. It usually just means he has an ace.

Reads help here. Its very difficult to lay your hand down on the river. If you suspect you are beat when he calls the turn (e.g. villain is nitty), then a river blocking bet is in order. Against a loose passive, a committing river value bet is in order. Against a loose aggressive or a wannabe tag, you can check and call a bluff.

This really looks like a missed flush.
I mean why is he shoving when you just acted like you really really didn't want to call a push?
It's not that huge of an overbet to, he probably thinks you just can't call.
If he has shown decent aggression I definetely call.

I think you have to call as well. If you're going to bet the turn and he smoothcalls then you might as well check call to induce a bluff. Most sets/two pairs will pop you on the turn (which is where you can fold safely then). If he raises the flop I would reraise and then fold to a flop push unless my read was that strong.

this is definitly a busted draw line. hands that beat you reraise either the flop, or probly the river, and you can let your hand go. As played, this is an easy call IMO
