Default Too agressive a play on a low pair?

I'm a new player, and some of my biggest losses come from hands like this. I'm on the button and this guy is loose (46/14 over 100 hands). What tends to get me is I can't tell if he's a call station or slowplaying. In retrospect, I would've max raised the flop, but otherwise I don't think I would play differently. My read was that he was on an ace and something, and that if he'd the full boat he would've bet.

This is part of my ongoing attempt to open up the range of hands I play from late position. Am I playing this type of hand too aggressively at low limits? Should I have folded after the call on the flop?

Don't reraise with small pairs preflop unless the money is deep and you want to bluff a decent player. Since virtually no decent players exist at 10nl, you should really only be reraising JJ+ and AK.

As for postflop, you should probably shut down when you are called on the flop. If they have connected with any part of the board, they beat you with a full house. Then also theres a good chance that you are beat by a higher overpair as well.

what he said.. flop play was so-so not sure cause thats a pretty ugly continuation bet, assuming that was your read, bet maybe 2/3 pot in this case? and if you're called that turn is almost guranteed to have you beat

By betting $7 on the turn, what are you being called by that you beat?

If they call with a 2 or 5 you are beat. If they have a pocket pair its probaly higher then yours. I would be 2-3 dollars and then if i can re-raised i can get out.

Also, no need to jam the flop so hard...again, what are you being called by that you can beat? Re-raise to like $2, you might get called by a hand like AK but you want that, he has terible odds
