Cash games vs MTTs vs SnGs for beginners/micro players

I'm a classic newbie who played some recreational live Holdem before playing online, who started at the lowest micro stakes, and who has been moving up pretty cautiously in the stakes to the point that now I'm playing $.25-.50 ... and want to keep progressing and (obviously) keep building my bankroll. And I understand the concepts behind basic BR management, of not playing stakes beyond what your BR can handle, moving up slowly, etc.

So the question is: should a beginner like me be playing mostly cash games for now, or MTTs, or SnGs? I've been playing full ring games almost exclusively, with a very occasional cheap MTT, but basically NO SnGs -- mostly because I'm a little unsure about my short handed & heads-up skills. Should I be getting involved in more tournaments of either kind? or just stick to cash? or play more of an even mix?

(Btw, maybe it doesn't really matter, but I'm mostly playing limit . Most people often assume everyone plays NL.)

I mean play what you like the most but I'd suggest cash. NL cash too

If u play any one game exclusively, you might get bored (if you are one of those ppl). Besides, and this is purely from experience, tournament players are generally worse players.

If you doubt your own HU and shorthanded game this is something you absolutely myst work on! Even in FR there are lots of shorthanded situations.

Another thing you should consider is your attention span. If u cant stay focused for 6 hours, tournies are not for you untill you practice your concentration through meditation or what not.

Also, sngs require more patience than cash game. If you are the kind of person who cant fold KQ, sngs are not for you.

Poker should be something that enriches your life, and since variety is the spice of life I suggest playing all kinds of games.

You are definitely (struggling to spell that word lately) no beginner since you already grinded up your way to 50 NL. Many disagree with me on that point, but I think its vital you have great confidence in your game.

Actually, I'm playing Limit, but point taken. I think you're right about the need for concentration in the MTTs ... and to work on my short game. Thanks for the input!

I really advocate as a beginner to play whatever you enjoy most. Whilst you're learning and getting into it, it really helps to enjoy what you're doing. For me I couldnt get into playing the microest cash, but I loved winning an STT whatever the buyin so played those and then over time moved to cash.

if you want to learn poker, then play heads up sngs
playing HU will let you learn how to adjust to people which is something like 90% of the people at 100NL can't do
