Any other degens that need an incentive to grind?

Default Any other degens that need an incentive to grind?

Ok, so I seriously need to start putting in more hands. Last month I put in less than 20k which is just flat out pathetic. So this month I am deciding to do something a lil different. I am offering a prop bet of $10 to any takes. It can go down one of two ways:

1.) We both just put up $10 on whether or not I can reach 40k hands this month.

    OR

2.) You also have a number of hands goal that you would like to reach. In which case we both put up $10 and if one of us makes the goal and the other doesn't, loser pays. If we both make the goal we keep our bets.

This is just something I want to do to give myself incentive to grind out the hands this month. I call my self a micro stakes grinder but playing an average of 580 hands a day in march isn't what I'd call a "grind."

A lil extra info. I have been playing since November and my entire database has less than 50k hands. A lot of that is due to me 1-2 tabling for the majority of the time. I recently switched over to FR in March and am currently 8 tabling. The most hands I have ever put in a day is 2.7k. My average # of hands per day for the last 4 1/2 months is probly somewhere in the ballpark of 800/day.

My goal is to obviously hit 40k hands and silverstar this month. I'm not really sure how many bets I will be taking, I guess it really depends on how many are interested. Probably no more then 5 so I don't completely destroy my roll if I don't make it lol. The offer will close probably Sunday night (EST).

    Thanks!

If you really want an incentive to grind why don't you have someone stake you?

That way you have an obligation to your client to put in at least 60000+ hands a month. If they stake you enough for you to play at the next highest level and by your OP I would say it would be 25NL, you would profit more, have a very low risk factor, and be forced to play more hands and want to knowing that once you finished the run you'll have made enough money to keep playing at 25NL.

I think I got 10K hands last month. I don't really have any goals.

How about we make it REAL interesting? We do a grinding competition. Then we assign a value on HOURS (not hands) with each hour a minimum 400 hands/hour.

Whoever puts in the most hours wins. Then it's not like "I'm playing more tables so I beat you" or "I started playing 16 tables so I win"

this is about commitment in time, not in amount
so say we set it to five hours = 1 dollar in bets
so if I grind 200 hours and you grind 0 you lose $40
but if I grind 60 and you grind 50 you only lose $2

that way it scales in the difference lol

Im opedipus bitch, the original balla.
Is $10 really going to motivate you enough to increase your volume that much?

I kind of like your idea iopq, but how are we going to keep of hours played? The tracking software I use doesn't keep track of hours played (I know HEM does this), it just goes by hands played. It's pretty hard to fake an amount of hands. It's pretty easy to lie about # of hours played. Just a thought.

I use PT3 and it tracks hours

    FYI 35 hours last month

Honestly, probably yea lol. Pretty much I go balls out if any of my own money is on the line. And with my roll, I don't want to be doing it for say, $50 cuz thats just kinda dumb. I figure its a BI at my current steaks, so it should motivate me enough to at least TRY to put in the volume. If I don't get anyone that wants to do it, no biggie. I just figured its a little something extra.

This isn't a TERRIBLE idea, but i don't like the idea of playing with someone else's money. I won't be playing optimally for one. I'll be afraid to lose the money and have to owe, so it really wouldn't work for me. Also, I hate sharing profitz lol.

I'm in on this. I had a measley 3,000k in March so I am shooting for 12,000K this month. Roughly 400/day. I work 6 days a week and have not gone past three tables yet and usually only 2. I like the losers pay, winners keep. If it stays us 2 though, who gets monies if we both fail???????

    I'm in
    My goal is 10k
    shiiiiiiiip it!

    For a more serious bet:
40k hands is a little steep for me, but I'd take it for $10 - I'd kind of expect it to be a tie though.
I don't expect to play more than 1k/day average.
Betting on hours may be better. I'd trust that you won't screw me, and I have HEM.
  13. #13
If we both fail... I guess we pay each other? lol So pretty much same thing as if we both won really. It's not really the point. It's just to get me on the tables, grinding out the hands, and will hopefully do the same for you.

I would do the hours thing, if I had a reliable way of tracking them. I (probably ) wouldn't screw anyone over, but I don't want there to be doubt or anything. If I had a way to do it I would, but hands are easily tracked.

So then, so far I have lockpull and oskar down for $10 a piece. Pretty sure these should both be ties, no worries tho. I'd like to get at least one person that wants to put in similar volume to me though. Like 30k+

I'll take 40k... I think I can do it. I'll play some more FR.
Plus I'm really due for a genuine $1k+ month. Not after bonus, not after currency conversion.

    1 buyin if you want.
I have to break 50k hands, you have to break 40k.
If we both do it then neither pays.
If I do it and you don't I get 1 buyin from whatever stakes you play.
and vice versa. (sounds like i get $10 if I win, you get $100 if you win)

your call - this is a degen suggestion cos my ev is crap, so it fits the title of this thread quite nicely I think....

Haha, done and done. I may be moving up to 25nl sometime this month if things go pretty well, so your payout may go up if I don't make it.

Ok, so far these are the people I have signed up to do this:

    Lockpull: $10/12k hands
    Oskar: $10/40k hands
    Daven: $100/50k hands

I could 24 table for 2 hours and then 'grind' one table all day while i'm watching t.v, surfing the net and net 400 hands/hour.

not 400 hands/hour overall, but only count hours where you got 400+ hands
  19. #19
I'm in for one buy-in from what I play. $25NL. I want to play 30K hands. Same deal as daven (you'd owe $10)

I played about 21K hands last month.

23k hands of 100nl in april so far for limited profits... running 1ptBB/100
oh well, rakeback will add to that a little. I've treated the last few days as prep for the big grind when i go pro in may. I'll be looking for 200k hand month prop bet takers sometime later this year

A lil behind pace now for the month, but no worries, its still early on.

    Nice work daven!!!

hell, even at only 1ptBB/100 that's $600. Add about $500 rakeback and i'm doing ok in some rake race... shows that even fish can make $$ if we're prepared to grind.
now i need to step up - from uber-fish to standard Nit-TAG-fish

funny. Tableratings tells me I've played 11k this month for $800 profit (biggest winners, filter Full Tilt, 100nl, this month). shows that they miss a lot of hands?

edit. Closing in on 2ptBB/100 for the month now.

Nice work guys! Put in uber grind session today. Just short of 10k hands now . Puts me right on track again w00t. Ship it!

I could ship you the $10 right now as I won't do much multi-tabling, and I'm prolly going to play live again today.

Just hoping you fail also at this point imo.

Yup its official I suck at grinding. I just added up all my hands for the month.

12,996/40k. AWESOME. I need to average about 1800 hands a day. Not likely the way things have been going. But Im not giving up yet. I'll just have to put in an LOLGROSS amount of hands per day (for me) to get it done. Time to put the nose to the grindstone.

Yea, I'm definitely gonna try. I got a few things to do before a short session before work today, then tomorrow is gonna be an all day grind day. The weekends are shit for poker for me, so that sucks, but o wells. I ain't givin up on this yet, its just looking bleak. Thanks for the support daven.

best case scenario - all of us make the hands while having profitable months!

I'm getting a bit silly on the grind now. 70k hands at about 1.5ptBB/100. And even that's not enough for top 10 in the raketherake FullTilt rake race?!?
  47. #47
Gross dude. 70k hands!?!?! Dam... I suck lol. I just got in a 3k hand day today, so thats definitely a plus. Only like ~23-24k left woohoo!

blah, I think I'll have to give it to dranger.
7k more to go... tried 20 or 24 tabling 10NL today - whatever the maximum is on FT after you asked them to increase the table limit... and it just sucks. It's definitely profitable, but I just can't play FR at the moment...

...what do you mean I can't 3-bet T8s oop profitably??? - this is BS!

Well, epic failure for me, at least in hands played.
Can't get graph to upload so here we go:
    FT- 2761 hands..... -3.02 bb/100
    PS- 9188 hands..... +12.96 bb/100

    Total hands- 11,949

With my tourn hands I am over but that was not the deal so Dranger makes $10. Well played sir. Money shipped.
