    Default Big Blind amount ?

    Hello,

We are starting with friends playing poker on friday nights.
What is an acceptable litlle Blind and Big Blind to start with (let's say that everyone has a budget a 100$ for the night). Th e table is a six player one.

How do you modify the amount of the blind when a player is out ? What is the new amount of blind when we are only 5 left in the race ?

    Thanks for your welcome advises...

If its a tournament you can start as little as you like and have it go up over time

e.g. start at 0.05/0.10 and double them every 20 mins or something similar.

If it is a cash game then the "usual" would be to have $0.50/$1 blinds so that you start of with 100BB.
If you make the blinds bigger you will create more action as fighting for blinds becomes more important. If you make them smaller the game will be tighter, slower paced as there is less in the pot to fight for at the start so it is more profitable to wait for a monster and take someones stack with it.

Depends, if you want to sit with 100$ at the table(be able to play with your full 100$ when you go all in) then blinds be 50/1$. You could also decide to sit with less money at once(50$ or 25$) which would be 25/50 or 10/25 penny and when someone loose his 50$ he puts in another 50$.

The 50/1 will last less long and be more stressful but thats up to you

If you play ring game there is no need to increase the blinds. You can then use 0.5/1 or 0.25/0.50

If you play tournament then it depends on the duration of time you want for the tournament and the number of players, as well as your speed of play. go to www.homepokertourney.com, they have tons of useful information about home tourneys.

Another issue - the correct terms are small blind and big blind, not little blind and big blind

I play a least 3 times a week with friends, we usually have 5-8 players, all buying in for $50.00. We usually start the blinds off at.25/.50 and raise them every half an hour, this not only forces action, but it helps to controll the length of the game, I am not a big fan of the 14 hour tournament.........lol.......just an example.
