Here is the scenario. Player just sat down at the table. He seems to be donkish, he bitches and whines on chat for about 5 minutes after his set gets beaten by a flush.
He is on the button, I am on the cutoff. I have pocket 10s and it is folded to me. I raise up to 2 dollars. He calls. Flop comes 4s 4d 5d. I bet 4 and he calls. The turns is a 3c. I bet 7 dollars and villain pushes his stack of 29 at me. What should I do?
what stakes is this? what are both of your stacks?
I'd fold and find another seat probably.
It was a .25 .50 blinds. I had 120 something in my stack while villain had a little over 42. He shoved on me. I almost wanted to lay it down but the guy seemed pretty donkish from his chat. I know I should not have used his chat to make a read on him but it just made me think.Quote:

What would you guys do in this situation? After I get a couple more responses I will post my decision and my reasonings.
I would fold, he probably got A4o or some other crap, making the straight or set.

Based on your description of villain's personality, I would probably call as well. Reads are important, too.
going broke with weak overpairs is a no-no. try not to let this happen often.
I'd have thought he had something like 67 instead of an overpair. If anything, I'd have thought from the chat that he's more likely to push with a good hand than a bluff. All you really beat that pushes is a bluff (likely 56).
Words to live by. You don't know where you are at in thise hand so I wouldn't want to lose too much with just an overpair.Quote:
