Why would you play Pot Limit over No Limit

Hey, I was wondering why anyone would play pot limit rather than No Limit. Is it a different game or is it for people who just don't like All-In. Are there any strategic issues to consider? Would there be more fish? I have played a couple by accident. Bloody slider wouldn't go any further when I wanted to push.

Usually they play out almost identical to NL anyway unless u get a really good hand in the first few positions. I just play em when they have high ass average pots and a seat open. I tend not to care if its NL or PL but I always go for NL first. I got a dude all in preflop yesterday on pot limit with my AA v his QQ in a reraising battle. Think it went back and forth till the 4th time the pot was big enough to go in the rest of the stack.

Right now the pot limit tables seem to have softer tables than the NL tables on Party Poker. This is because everybody has been talking about how great the NL full ring games are on Party and the tables have become shark, whore, and rock infested along with the fish. So the main reason I started to play PL was because I found poorer players there.

NL and Pot limit are very similar but there are some definite strategy differences. The differences mainly have to do with implied odds. Sometimes you have a definite edge that you can absolutely protect or make the other player pay the ultimate price to call in NL. In pot limit you can't protect your hand as well because the most you can force your opponent to pay is a pot-sized bet.

Imagine a situation where you have a set and two other people have a flush draw and an open-ended strait draw. There is a medium sized pot. In NL you could take the pot down by going all-in. In pot limit you can only bet the pot and if both of your opponents call they are not calling against the odds if you factor in potential implied odds.

The value of check-raising also increases in pot-limit.

Pot-Limit forces more decisions. You can't just push, particularly pre-flop.

The fish like it better because they can limp their crap with less chance of being faced with a pre-flop all-in bet. Particularly when there is a maniac at the table.
