    Default Why limping is bad.

This is for the assorted fish i always see posting their stats at like 19/6 etc in the BC. Granted this guy's playing short but i should never have seen this flop.

    CO ($4.50)
    Button ($10)
    SB ($10.05)
    Hero (BB) ($10.15)
    UTG ($21.30)
    MP ($4.95)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 3, 8
2 folds, CO calls $0.10, Button calls $0.10, SB calls $0.05, Hero checks

    Flop: ($0.40) 8, A, 3 (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.40, CO raises to $0.80, 2 folds, Hero raises to $7.90, CO calls $3.60 (All-In)

    Turn: ($9.20) 5 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    River: ($9.20) 6 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: $9.20 | Rake: $0.45

And if the turn was a Jack, he'd be thinking it was a great limp.

But yes, limping with AJ in the CO is bad. Worse is him calling all-in.

Open limping is usually always a bad idea, but seriously, there are a lot of profitable spots to overlimp, at least in fullring.

Obviously not the only reason, but it's certainly one of them. Because limping only weak hands is extremely exploitable players attempt to mix up their play by limping hands like AJ. This turns a potential profitable pfr and c bet opportunity into marginal spot multi way. As bad as this is, it is advocated in the Harrington on Cash Games series. Although that is a FR cash game series i'm pretty sure it's still bad.

    HoC is worse than limping.
