Default Trying poker again, what site to chose?

    Hi,

I played poker a few years back, up to 25 NL. I was doing pretty decent if it wasn't for me tilting and wasting money in tournaments. So all in all I was just another losing player.

So I haven't played in a few years now and I wanna give it another shot. Any recommendations on what site/rakeback to use now? I've heard full tilt is down or something so I don't know witch sites are still 'safe'.

I live in Europe if that makes a difference.

    Still on that feckin' island!
    hello m2m

can you expand on that a bit, plizz?

i strayed from the PS [lord 4give me] whilst the black-friday dust settled, and found that sites like Titan and Ladbrokes seem to offer much softer games at uNL.

they didn't have the 'solid' feel to the UI that PS has, granted, but i can cope with that for a few more monie$

Canada; the country all tucked away down there...
go to Pokerstars, post black friday it is insanely profitable. The regs are gone and the players are terrible. I had a bit left on my PS bankroll and have been playing 5nl

    example:
    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
    UTG+1 ($5.61)
    Hero (MP1) ($5.45)
    MP2 ($5.27)
    CO ($3.24)
    Button ($5.96)
    SB ($9.17)
    BB ($11.90)
    UTG ($3)
    Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 5, 5
    2 folds, Hero bets $0.15, 1 fold, CO calls $0.15, 3 folds
    Flop: ($0.37) 8, 5, 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.30, CO raises to $0.65, Hero raises to $1.65, CO raises to $3.09 (All-In), Hero calls $1.44
    Turn: ($6.55) 10 (2 players, 1 all-in)
    River: ($6.55) K (2 players, 1 all-in)
    Total pot: $6.55 | Rake: $0.32
    Results:
Hero had 5, 5 (full house, fives over eights).
CO had 6, 6 (two pair, eights and sixes).
    Outcome: Hero won $6.23

I can't play at pokerstars, now months later. I still think about the quality of their software, their responsiveness. I think i miss stars more than I miss my ex girlfriend.

I fucking dream about stars, that's how good it is!

If you are playing 25nl Everleaf is by far the best option. You wont find a place with a softer player pool anywhere at that limit. Many to choose from, bluffbet, minted, p4e etc

Stay away from sites that still allow US players is all I can say. Otherwise: shop around. Rakewise there are better options for micro/small stakes than PS.

For me personally, any kind of bonus reward system is terrible because I never seem to care enough to make good use of it. That said: pokerstars has unarguably the best software, but other networks have become pretty decent as well lately.

About the fish factor: Beating the micros comes down emotional control almost exclusively. Sure it doesn't hurt to improve technically, but the biggest and most common leak of people who struggle to get past the micros is that they're doing dumb shit that they know is dumb. Don't do that so much -> success! The fishiness of other feesh comparing to your fishyness isn't a supremely important factor.

Wherever you are in europe: google for poker rooms that are exclusive to your country and give those a try.

    Pokerstars it is then!

And yeah the micro limits is all about not being stupid yourself. This is by far the biggest thing I need to learn.

Also I got pokertracker installed, but I think it was distracting when I used it before.
I was checking every 100 or so hands whether I was up or down.
Gonna try only using it at the end of my sessions now

Looking more for the short up and downs rather than to the long run result.

If that's what you're using PT for, you're doing it wrong.
