Some help getting started in real money

Hi,

First, let me say that I feel fortunate to have seen so many helpful post on this site.

I am wondering how a player knows that they are ready to play for real money? Obviously if I am wondering it is probably a sign that I am not ready, but here are a few things I am wondering about.

I would like to start small money wise, but then I fear I will miss out on the bonuses available for first deposits.

I am continuously winning play money tournaments, but I worry that the style of play will be much tighter and aggressive in real money games, a style that I am not use to.

I really want to improve my game and poker tracker seems to be a good way to do it, but as far as I know you have to play with real money to use it on party poker.

Some advice on getting ready for real money would be much appreciated, especially the poker tracker/need to use real money aspect.

Why don't you deposit a huge chunk of money and clear it by playing a lot of small stakes? Small stakes are about as though as play money - they're not.

Quite simply, you wont be able to tell when your ready for real money by playing play money. I don't care how consistently you can win.

I was the same before I started real money play, I built up thousands of play money chips on party, thought I was hot shit, joined a real money game and got killed. Its that different.

The only way to do it is to jump in at the deep end and see what happens.

Yep, deposite some money and try it. That is the only way to know.

Deposit a small amount in PokerStars. They don't have a deposit bonus going currently anyway. Play the .01/.02 games. Work your way up following proper bankroll management. This way you are playing for real money but only risking a very small amount.

I like the above advice.
The penny games are kooky, a little like play money, but a nice "tweener" to the dime games and up. Their $5 SNG's and $1 &$2 MTT's are a nice way to play a ton for a small investment.

They also have 1+0.2 and 1.5+0.25 Sngs
