Showing bluffs?

When do y'all show hands?

I was just at a microlimits table and raises were scaring everyone off. About 6 hands in I played this one:

I showed my hand and thought I'd get some nasty chat messages, but I didn't. So, two hands later I get confirmation that the dude was a little pissed off:

Anyway, do y'all find that showing bluffs frequently increases the action on your good hands? Any suggestions or tips on maximizing this effect? Differences for ring vs SnGs? Anyone have opinions on showing "see I had the goods" versus "see? I outplayed you"?

You were not bluffing in either hand.

However, bluffing and showing can make for a profitable move because you could get paid off better when you have a really good hand. The problem with showing hands, is that some people forget that they showed a bluff and will bluff on the very next hand but get called down. You need to be aware of your opponents awareness.

His first hand is pretty much a bluff, his bet shouldnt be for value and he will want to take advantage of picking up the pot on a scare card. He is playing the board there and not his cards. In that hand [other than folding preflop] I would bet that turn harder, your bet is very weak and you dont want a call.

I never really show my bluffs, they do give you more action, but you dont always want that action. If I knew I was getting KK in a few hands then sure, Id bluff and show it, but what if in the next few hands am card dead and just want to pick up a few small pots? Whatever floats your boat really, I dont think its horrible, I just dont personally see much of an advantage from it with my game.
