    Default Seriously (re 2nl)

How the hell are you supposed to build a decent bankroll playing 2NL?

it seems like micro SnGs are the only thing worth playing to build up!!

it's possible to make minimum wage playing 2nl. not that that should be your goal, but thinking that it is in anyway unbeatable or even really THAT slow of a grind if you're playing anywhere near acceptable poker is wrong.

also, people always jizz their pants over sng's until they hit their first bad swing

That is one pissed of baby. I never really thought money was the purpose of 2nl You play 2nl in order to get good enough to play 5nl.

A monkey with a stick can make $5/hr at 2NL.

I played micro SNG's to build a roll, worked out pretty well except for my first downswing (lol surviva). They didn't develop my postflop skills enough and I ended losing a good chunk of my bankroll at cash.
Your focus should be at getting better, rather than moving up the ranks. When you get good enough, shouldn't take you too long to build your roll.

There are no shortcuts no matter what stakes you're on. You have to go in there and grind, whether you play FR, 6max, HU SNGs, STTs, MTTs...

If grinding seems like a waste of time then you can always find some highroller who will agree to flip for your bankroll.

You're not supposed to build a bankroll at 2nl, you're supposed to learn so you can move up through the limits and build a bankroll.

I just 12-14 tabled 2NL 6max...was quite possibly the easiest thing I have ever done poker wise

if he was learning and getting better as a player though , should his win rate be increasing over time. Since you can draw a pretty straight line along it he must have been playing the same all the way through.

Nobody would play 740K hands of $2NL to learn. It had to be a prop bet. Probably 24 tabling for like ever. How many hours would the FR nits figure this would take at max tables since it's the micro's

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

I think it's best to view 2NL (and to a lesser extent, 5NL) as an internship--you're there primarily to get your feet wet and build a stable base for learning so you're not dead in the water when the time is right for you to proceed, and as a bonus you make a little money (but not a lot, you're a rookie intern!).

Expecting the money to fall from the sky at these stakes is ridiculous...know why you're there first and foremost.

    It wasn't a prop bet

Graph is both awesome and distrubing at the same time and makes me look horrible.

Wait... I am horrible. The monkey with the stick is beating me.

If i got my math right, didn't 2nl pro tie with the monkey with a stick?

some of the comments in here are interesting

the $5 an hour comment is an extremely arrogant one...I wish I could make $5 an hour...

I'm just trying to learn day in day out

24 tabling is madness...how did he find time to play each hand?

Cash games are only way to move up trough levels.
I play SnG and MTT sometimes and don't expect much from them.
I have played SnG's on FT,PS,Party Poker and UB.
Didn't get much from them. After few wins I always had a bad run which is larger then income.
Poker Stars and UB are best for playing SnG's.
Full Tilt is hardest for play.Blinds are starting from 15/30 and you'll be easy shortstacked.
    Best of luck

The $5 an hour thing was for 24-tabling.. I wasn't being arrogant. Actually, $8+ an hour is probably doable. Prop bet anyone?

As for 24-tabling, its really easy once you get the hang of it. You actually get pretty bored playing FR unless you do all fast tables. 1,500h/r is simple.. above 1,700 it can get hairy. AHK ftw.

While Outlaw is probably correct in the long run, from one beginner to the others in the BC who are still beginners... 24-tabling should only be undertaken when your roll and sanity permit it...

I've 9-tabled before, and to be honest, my game isn't there yet. Mis-clicks, bad ideas (I'm up on 4 out of 9 tables, can afford to chase that), and in general 'head-swimming' because of trying to work on too many problems at once, all contributed to a very bad session.

Play 24 tables when you're ready to stop moving up because that's when the learning stops.
