    Default Seat position

    Hello all

I'm not sure if this question is best in this forum or not but I'll give it a shot.

I've been playing over a year now and in our home games it is usually a battle between me and the same person. It is his house so I usually get to pick where I want to sit. Is it better to sit to his right or to his left?

I can think of advantages for either such as:

If I'm to his left I can Re-raise a bet if I am strong or I want him to think I am strong.

If I'm to his right I can bet/check first but he can raise it and I won't necessarly know if he is strong or not. However, he normally doesn't bluff a whole lot but he likes to draw.

I can beat him but I want to pick the best seat so I can maximize my money.

What are the general guidelines for seating positions?

    Thanks

Sit on his left. Sit on his left. Sit on his left.

    Drinking your milkshake.
In general, you want to have tight players on your left, since they act after you. They are less likely to cold call you with position, and less likeley to defend their blinds. This guy sounds like he is a loose passive player, in which case you want him to your right. If he's loose and likes to draw, you can raise him preflop with position and a good hand, and value bet him to death.

Then again, you could always just sit across from him and then half the time you'll bet before him and half the time after.
