Depends on the fish in question in my experience and reads are important, but it could mean one of a number of things:

    - some form of blocker bet to make drawing cheaper than if you were to cbet a larger amount
    - some weak holding like 2nd pr or top pr no kicker that they aren't folding
    - a monster designed to make you spew off a BI (but rarely this - idiots seem to slow play to excess)
    - because they heard somewhere that aggressive poker is winning poker and are so stupid they think donking 1bb is the way to do it with ace high.

Good thing is, it shouldn't be difficult to play against.

You can basically always treat this as a check and never be playing incorrectly.

I would agree with the caveat that it's okay to fold with something like four high with no draw.

This is the most infuriating tactic at the micros.

Nearly always a draw or 2nd pair in my experience. 9 times out of 10 they fold to a raise, not entirely sure what they're hoping to happen with their retardedly small donkbets.

They are betting to see where they are at. 90% of the time it's to see what you do. I raise these almost religiously, but not so much that I won't fold if they think they are trying to induce and reraise.

    In my experience:
    - begging for a free card (most of the time)
    - ultra cheap bluff to take down the pot, mostly on the button, or heads up on the river when the hand checked through, or whenever they feel that nobody has anything.
    - to induce a raise with a strong hand (not very often, but it happens, equivalent of a c/r)
    - "value" bet from those who haven't found the bet slider or those who think that everyone will fold if they bet any more

Regardless, as has been said above, treat it as a check and you'll be OK.

That's probably true, but I don't know why they think they won't see what you will do if they just check instead.

I can think of less difficult situations.

That may be exactly the goal, can you say mini TILT. Over thinking, monster flop, SNAP YOU OFF!!
2x at higher levels is semi standard, I try to not play more aggressive just because it's micro!! Or that's just me!!
What MUST be, most surely SHALL be!!
