    Default implied odds question

    hey guys,

Just wondering. Sometimes i'll have a decent draw and someone will bet into me. I might need 4:1 to call but i'm only getting 2:1. Hmmm, so i look at his stack and the implied odds amount to a call. They usually do.

Recently this happened and i lucked out. I need a jack to make the nut straight and another time needed a spade to make the flush. And both times i hit, YET i didn't take many chips off him because he checked to me on the river. Then i'd bet and if it was small he'd call, if it was large he'd fold.

So my question is, a lot of the time i look at calling because i can take someone's stack but more often than not, i don't take much. This makes things a bit less EV to make those implied odds calls. Or does it?

    Little help please.

Try to think in terms of how much you will get from them on average, not just their total stack.
