Help with a TPTK hand

This is a hand history, but i am a beginner so I posted here. please advise on my play here. i had no reads, and was slightly tilting because a few hands earlier i had a bad beat (my pocket ace were cracked by a flopped set of 10s, but we both put about 25% of our stacks in pre flop)

I bet I should have folded here and waited for a better spot, but it seems so many people at 10NL do this w/ under pairs that miss sets, or just hitting any piece of the flop, and occasionally with draws. Then again, since people are so loose/passive their could be two pair, a set, or even kk or aa. What do you think?

at this level top pair is probably good im thinking. i dont think they are going to have AA or KK here unless they are that stupid to try to slowplay preflop

people actually limp aa and kk more than you'd expect in late position at these stakes...I love busting them for slowplaying when i hit big from the blinds...

anyway thanks for the comment. I was really not sure about this hand and have the hardest times deciding what to do with TPTK in these sorts of spots.

even if some idiots at this level limp AA or KK you cant give them all credit for playing like that. a set is much more probable

I figure I'm beat here and fold the flop. I don't like calling pushes/large raises with TPTK.

depends on the player. I will fold this to someone i dont know but if he has a slightly smaller stack i will call. I will also make a note when he pushes here and keep an eye out for how often he does it.

edit: i will also call this if the pot is bigger.

I would put him on a flush draw or trips. Tough to go all in on TP.

i'd lean toward a call though considering how many dont know the odds of making a flush here.

I'd probably call the AI too. If he had the set, i think he's more likely to simply call and get you to put more of your money in on later streets rather than push you off a hand. The overbet suggests a vulnerable hand - flush or straight draw or perhaps KQ or QJ.

Be careful, as you move up in limits, it becomes more and more -EV to call all-in reraises with TPTK. Don't persist with this when you move up!

I feel better that at least there is not a resounding "dumb call" here. I understand what you mean about calling a huge reraise with TPTK usually being a bad move against an unknown opponent, but it's like DBL0SVN wrote, I put more weight on him having a weaker q, flush draw, or just him thinking I would fold since either I was continuation betting or was tight enough to fold top pair. I should have written the table had a larger than normal average pot size and that made me think of a semi bluff . Also, like Pelion, I'd fold more often with a smaller pot and an all in that covers closer to my whole stack.

lol thats the point. You are ment to think about it first so you dont get a results oriented opionion, then you can see the results by highlighting them.

The only problem with it is, 90% of the hand histories people post are where they lost a pot so its pretty easy to guess what the other guy has anyway.

On this type of board such a massive overbet is more often then not a semibluff with flush/str8 draw or someone with pocket 88/99 trying to buy the pot.
