Personally I would fold J9, Q9 and K9 in any position unless they are suited.
On the button in an unraised pot I would raise with a hand like Q9s.
- You might win right there.
- If you are re-raised then easy fold, tough luck but best to flush out the check/raise big hands early. If you limp and flop Qxx against AA or KK you are in big trouble.
- If you are called and hit the flop, great your pf raise got more money in the pot.
- If you are called and miss the flop you have position to make a move against passive opponents.
I play some suited connectors in the same way from late position. I don't play 23, 34, 45 or 56. Personally I just don't like drawing to the bottom end of a straight draw, and if I am chasing a flush I want the A.
