THE FIRST DEADLINE IS NEXT THURSDAY SEPT. 2ND AT 3PM EST (extended 15 hrs due to bracket delay)

The format will be as follows:

A knockout tournament with either 16 or 32 entrants dependant on numbers. If we need to settle somewhere in between we can use bys.

Games will be NLH played as a best of 3 tables with a sort of sng format with 200bbs of play money on stars and no blind increases. The final will be a best of 5.

I can take the entrance fees on both Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker and be the escrow. If you take issue with me being escrow, we can nominate someone else (BooG was escrow last time and things worked perfectly fine).

I want to get through 3 rounds a month at least, so a 7-day deadline will be enforced and a hard (and I emphasize HARD) 10-day deadline will be accepted at the maximum for special cases.

REMEMBER THAT BOTH PARTIES ARE RESPONSIBLE (AND LIABLE) FOR ARRANGING THE MATCHUPS, SO IF YOU DON'T GET IT IN IN TIME THEN THERE IS A VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BOTH BE ELIMINATED!

lol at misspelling misspelled, also too frugal, but would love to see some ftr events for those of us w/ 2nl,5nl bankrolls.

We've done like 4 of these at the $10 level, there's really no need to drop lower since it would be completely pointless for anyone higher than 5nl-10nl to play. $15 really isn't that much and even a 5nl player with a $150+ BR can afford to play this. If you don't have a $150 BR, chances are you still suck at poker rly rly badly and you should wait to get more experience before you play anyways.

Sry bud but a 15$ buy-in generally requires something like a 700$+ bankroll, maybe a bit less since it's a fairly small field (only paying top 2 or 3 though). I don't agree with the assertion that a dude with a $150 BR should drop 10% of it in a tournament with at the very least somewhat decent players who have a correct approach to learning the game.

But what do I know, Boog says I'm a bitch.

FWIW I'd play a 2 or 3$ FTR HU tourney for the fun of it.

How about we make the BI $16 so if we get 15 entries a broke 2-5NL'er get's a chance to play for free? If we get 30 then 2 play for free.

@ Penney, you don't need a $700 BR lol. This tournament is for fun, and it's a chance to play vs people way better than you (people playing 50nl, 100nl, 200nl etc) and you can ask them to go over game afterwards (= HUGE +EV for you) and its not like you're risking that much with your 3 BIs with a 30 BI BR. If you're any good you grind it back in a couple sessions at most.

If this were a tournament that happened every week, then ldo people with smaller BRs shouldn't play EVERY WEEK, but there is abso nothing wrong with taking a shot and getting some potentially great feedback after the game is over.

Don't worry about who is willing to play since the money is meaningless to most that you would worry about playing. For a mere $15, the lesson of playing HU vs someone who may now a thing or two may prove to be worth it to play a better player.

32 only takes longer to sign up. 1 extra round to practically double the payout is worth it imo

1 = something needs to change re making sure the games are played within a reasonable time period - this was a major fuckup with the last BC HU tourney. However, i cannot think of a good solution right now
2 = the last time around i felt bad about all games i won except for vs M2M cos there is a definite difference between a 2nl beginner and, e.g. a 200nl HU reg (I see at least one in the list of entrants so far). This difference is magnified when you consider the % of bankroll involved AS WELL as the difference in skill level. Basically, entering thist is a dumb waste of money for most players at 25nl and below unless there is some sort of filter on who enters. Like, really, my advice to a 10nl player trying to move up = don't waste 1.5 buyins. I think noofy is smart to be so frooooooooogal

But it's going to be a bit of fun. I'll also offer to review any match with any opponent, this element is obv a plus for entering and using 1.5BIs.

Observations and questions. Just axxin, so don't get tilty.

The FTR Forum describes the BC as "25NL and lower". OBV, advice from 50NL+ players is +ev for the BC. Playing against them..... not so much.

Regarding the knockout structure, is that single elimination?

Regarding the payouts? Is this an established payout structure? It seems like the winner could win less and still be happy, allowing more payouts.

but I suppose I'm a little biased.

You guys are so afraid of losing that you may miss out on an opportunity to learn something worth way more than $15. It's not like someone playing $50NL or $100NL won't take 30 mins after to talk about the game. If the $15 is expendable enough to enter and try and win, then it should be worth double that for a chance at getting better.

All this talk of $15 being nothing and some incredible learning experience makes me laugh really, really hard.
