Hero bets $5, UTG calls $5, CO raises to $55

I'm thinking CO must mave made his set, or maybe has the AA/KK. Is there enough money in the pot to make this a call? I have the OESD + the 2 Jacks.

Here I think the correct play is to fold. Even if he doesnt have you beat. You are probably at best 50-50. He may have a hand like AJ of spades. And even though you would be currently winning the odds are in his favor to drawout. You only have 7 dollars invested. Pick a better spot to risk all your chips. Thats my oppinion.
However I would have reraised preflop. To try and get a better feal of where I stood. You could have reraised 4 dollars and than if he came over the top thrown you hand away.

His overbet is ridiculous. He DESPERATELY wants you out of the hand. He might have a set (my guess), two pair, an overpair, an OESFD or AT spades - I think you are ahead often enough here with your overpair + OESD to justify calling, though it's a tight tight thing.

Hero's odds here aren't nearly good enough, right? He's gotta call $50 into a $71 pot with 10 outs, some of which may not be clean.

I, personally, always take 50/50's in a cash game just so I might acquire a big stack and all the benefits that lie therein.

btw when i am villain here I have AJ/JT/AsKs a lot.

That's why I am saying we aren't necessarily certainly crushed.

Preflop: Call is ok for set value.

Better implied odds against other big stacks is a huge plus.

I like the "bully effect" vs the smaller stacks too. You can basically go into a bunch of 50/50s with smaller stacks (as long as they don't hit and run) and come out on top.

Thanks for the responses guys. He ended up having 89o for two pairs. He hit his set (for good measure) on the river.

I read somewhere that in a cash game you play every edge, but I was putting in 43% of the pot to win it 50% of the time. (I was thinking more 45/55 against at the time). I was just wondering how others people would play it.

I do have to say, there are better ways to win $7.

I'll probably fold it in the future.

People tend to play differently against big stacks too. Its alot easier to bully people when you have a big stack for some reason.

Having a big stack is OK so long as you are prepared for the big decisions that can go with it if you get into a serious hand with another big stack. I remember once at a 25 6 max table I was up to 100 as was one other guy, looked down saw KK ended up AI he flipped KK as well. I had a read on his re-raising range and would of been happy going AI with 1 buy in but decisions are tougher with more behind, pretty stomach-churning stuff.

Generally I agree people are easier to bully, but they will also be looking to you to double them through which you must be aware of.

Island my problem is here I like to be the one making the move, not calling it. However if I was on a rush I probably would have called.
