Blindsided by a boat

Anything I should have done differently or is this just an unfortunate turn/river scenario? Should I have folded to the pre-flop action? No way I was laying it down on the flop.

Yeah, that's what I should have done, the only other thing I would have changed...not played after the St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday. Looking back at my HH for the evening session makes me laugh. I finished with a profit but I had a few nut hands that paid well. But overall stupid decisions on my part.

Yeah preflop fold.. you avoid these kinds of situations by going with Axs (x=2-5) and not with a K or Q. I destacked a guy yesterday because of this very same situation you were in here.

But other than that, this is simply bad luck.

How would having an a-high flush be less vulnerable to someone making a boat than a k-high flush is?

No I'm the slow one here, sry.. I thought he had an Ace high nut flush that beat your flush. Ignore my post.

be very very careful playing hands like Ax suited. If you do play them, they are for flush and/or two pair value only.

The problem many people get themselves into with these kinds of hands is when you hit your top pair and then can't get rid of it ven though your kicker sucks.
