    Default Bankroll Management Question

    I've never won a huge amount in my live games so this has never been an issue, last night though I took home $634 after a live 100NL game. I'm trying to decide if I should add this to my online roll and if so does it count for the purposes of moving up levels? If it does it would bump me from 5NL to 25NL.

    don't deposit it online. If you really want to then chuck on $100 and move up to 10nl.
    if you can't beat the stakes enough to move up without depositing then you won't beat the next stakes easier.
    keep that cash for next time you go play live 100nl

    I made that mistake when I won a tournament a couple of years back. took me up to a grand. I hemmed and hawed about what to do with the tournament winnings, but I figured "WTF" and kept it online and absorbed it into my roll. I then moved up so that I was within aggressive, yet correct BR management.

    I pissed that money away in a relatively quick, explosive fashion.

    Any time I won money playing live poker, I kept it in its own special account, and I bought 1 poker book with my winnings. I've got to agree with Daven use that money for playing poker. With the added Caveat, buy a book with it to help you with your game.
    The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

    Just a thought, but I would spend some on a good time, save some, and put the rest in your bankroll. I'd be a little leery of moving up if you're not crushing your current limit, or at least def winning; the games do get harder, even going from 5 to 10 to 25.

    Yea, daven nailed it. If you are or fell you can beat the stakes tehen move up one level. $5NL to $10NL is not much of a jump but the money might feel like it is. Put a bit online and move up, but beat each stake before moving. I can't imagine how many of the highstakes players bankrolls are made of of failed attempts by Large MTT winners taking shots after a big score.

    I think this may help you as it just kind of conferms what you've been told. Good luck

    My first post;

    this is something i can relate to as a regular live 100nl player. I took down a regional wpt big score about 6 months ago and took half the winnings into br and than attempting a move up to 300nl and 500nl. I also pissed it away, but am happy to see that the experience and lesson learned at those levels has brought me from a losing 100nl player to a winning 100nl player. It was an expensive lesson as i probably could have gained the same knowledge through more books, but cest la vie...

    Are you beating 5nl? If not, then no. If so, then why aren't you at 10nl?

    OP hasn't been active for two years so I'm guessing they didn't move up...
