I'd stick with your note taking - but wouldn't go as far to take notes on every hand - just ones where villain does something unexpected, or takes an unusual line. No point noting every attempt to steal, but if someone looks him up and you get to see his range from the button etc - that could be useful..

All I can suggest is working slowly up the table count.. I've got a 17" lappy screen and I'm really not comfortable with more than 4 tables at a time (crappy 1440x900 resolution) and I usually don't add the 3rd or 4th until I'm comfortable with knowing who the regs are, who the fish are etc in most positions on the first 2 tables.

I also find using the Auto-rebuy feature quite useful - it means I don't have to see how much I'm down while I'm actually playing. I'm still too results oriented and often check if I'm up or down a buy in overall, but I'm sure I'll get past that once I'm more experienced at this limit and don't care that losing one buy in now is the equivalent to losing 2 buy ins at the tables I was playing a week ago..
