Possition is important, and your possition sucks, so I'd check/call small bets on the flop, and turn and fold if I don't improve on the river.

i am likely holding the best hand here, can i really afford to give free cards to the flush/straight chasers?

of course position would be nice here, but since i dont have it, i dont have much to do.
