Default AK early position vs nit

This is a hand from a friend that came up while i was railing him. villain is 10/5

He said wanted to check behind the turn and call a river bet or value bet river if checked to. Would this have been a better line?

is hero positionally aware? if so i put pretty much zero FD's/SD's in his range so i like checking behind the turn and calling a river bet a lot more (or value betting the river if checked to like you said)

been think ing about this for a bit.

villains range is like KQs, TT+, AQ+

on the turn, assuming villain doesnt beat pot and then check with the nuts, we can remove AQ, QQ, AA from his range. So then we're trying to maximize value from TT, JJ, KK, KdQd, KQs AK. lets forget AK cuz we tie.

6+6+3+1+4 combos left in his range. what we do now depends on another assumption. If we bet turn, the most likely outcome is that KQ, JJ and TT fold, and KK and KdQd call. if we check turn and bet river, i think JJ, Tt and the other KQ's might call. since KK and KdQd consitute 4/20=1/5 of villains range and we can potentially get additional value from that 4/5 that would fold, i think that we should check turn, and bet river.

additionally...we're probably not getting 2 bets from KK or KdQd either way, so it seems that a turn check and river bet is the right play.

Im opedipus bitch, the original balla.
No way Hero is getting 3 streets of value from a 10/5's UTG opening range with AK here. I would certainly check back turn, and re-evaluate on the river. If villain fires river it would be a close decision, but I'd likely call expecting to chop the pot often, as I'd expect him to bet AA/QQ/AQ on the turn. And I doubt he has AJ often in his range, and if he does not sure if a nit can vbet it.

If there is no Q on the board, then 3 streets of value it is.

Also.. Did villain really play AQ this nitty?

I would bet turn, but I wouldn't bet river.

bet turn for value or for protection? i don't think we're getting value from any of the hands that we beat by betting here, and his range that we beat is full of two outers.

Both, we can still be called by worse on turn. Kinda thin but its there.
