88 on the Button facing re-raise from BB

Player had just sat down five hands prior and had bought in for 50BB so no real reads. I'm not worried about SB, he was extremely loose passives that laid down to any real aggression like this AI.

Massive overbet....Range: pair, Ace-paint, At best it's a race. You can afford but do you feel lucky. Could be just pushing against you making a button move (his read). I would think about sb in this situation as he did call your raise. Fold.. or call if you feel lucky but it's an expensive gamble. GL

Well I see that he did fold but he did call your 4.5x bet first round.
What happened?

Yea the SB was real loose he'd shown up with the most random of junk but any time some one made an AI move he folded unless he had the absolute nuts and he never called a single PF AI

I lay it down. Without reads that villain is doing this with small pp's, I don't think calling is profitable. I think in order to call we need to be able to say villain is doing this with A8, 77 and worse. At best I would say we are flipping 70% of the time here and behind about 20%.

Doesn't really matter of you call or fold, looks like you make the same amount either way. I'd err on the folding side since 66-99 and AT might not be in his range here. Of course he could be pushing 22+, Ax+, KQ and we'd make a mistake by folding. Its so marginal I'd just fold and move on until you get a read.

given no reads this should be an easy fold. You are basically hoping it includes 66,Ato,etc. Also if they are dumb enough to be shoving preflop you can afford to wait for a better spot as they will be giving their cash away soon enough.

Fold it... recognize that it may be a play at all the dead money and set something up with A10s+ and 88+ for next time if it happens again.

I fold and take my shot at the guy with the big stack behind him... You are up on this table so just hedge your money in a better spot.

clear backjam, wtf who folds 88 here? Hate to be "that guy" but this is 2nl, dude could just be jamming his last dollar for the fun of it. Assigning ranges is almost pointless, we're clearly a favorite and it's going to be a winning play to call here.

To clarify, don't call, jam and don't let the SB do something stupid like flat the $1 cold.
