3 Questions.

These are 3 very important and basic fundamental questions you should be asking yourself while making betting decisions.

What am I getting value from?
What do I beat?
What better hands am I making fold?

When putting villain on a particular range, how do we take into account the unpredictable plays that some of the weaker players will make?

For example when someone pots TPNK on the river when there is a 4 straight on board? Or players check raising 66 on a 832 board with intentions of getting all in?

Does it come down to just actually SEEING them do this and then adjusting their ranges accordingly?

I have a hard time putting people on worse cards that will call my bet and getting the best value. It's something I need to get much better at. If I'm not careful I find myself regularly putting them on hands that beat me and give up too soon.

At the 2NL or 5NL level, how much should we be attempting to "make" a better hand fold?

I think this is best. I've lost much less money after I started viewing people as decent poker players until they consistently prove otherwise.

I think not, only if if ya have seen them play fit or fold but like 90 % of them is lose passive callin station. Soo, be thight don`t bluf and acspect the worst of calling idiot to have the nuts and not betting a cent.


only if you know he is able to fold and you have position and you have initiative and you have card equity. If you really have A B C and D you might Cbet sometimes. at 2`s / 5`s.


If yo ustart thinking "o, he`s an idiot so he has nothing"then you might be supprised because he`s not betting when he does have something or he beats you at showdown with a pair of three`s


Yes, if you have like a pair of aces and there`s flush and straight draws on baord you should bet is hard. It`s the draws that call to much. Still they might have a set or something ....

so use position to pot control a little and don`t pay of when they hit.
Yes it`s hard to bet it hard pre, flop and turn and then check / fold the river when a third hart drops. but as long as you pay them of, they will implied odds to stay in

what hands do you get value from other than the ones that you beat?

and if you say "you get value when you make better fold" well then thats covered by the third question and still renders the first question pretty useless imo. I'm not trying to troll zilla's list, i just want to know if im missing something and there is a difference.

Stop thinking about just betting with the lead.

You have AK on 237JQ no flush board. On the river his range is exclusively T4 and KT.

You beat T4, but get no value from it. You beat KT, and may get value from on the river with your bet.

The two questions aren't mutually exclusive.



Also, in the above example you get 0 value from T4 and maybe KT if you bet river, but if you check.....

either way solid advice zill4 these are definitely things you have to be constantly asking yourself.

No, that's not what it meant, as I said, stop thinking about betting with the lead and think about calling and raising too.

What worse will call is teh first question, value.

yea sorry jyms my response was to luck....but yea i guess i see where your coming from, you can technically "get value" from making a fold assuming you lose less than if you had called on an average.
